Free Guided Tours of the Market Centers in Slovenske Gorice

The Slovenske Gorice destination is a treasury of experiences and stories that even locals sometimes don’t know. To understand and preserve the identity and culture of a place, it is crucial to know the local legends, which you can relive while walking through the town and viewing various sites or objects that have previously been overlooked. It is fascinating that some things in life only become interesting when someone points them out.

At the Slovenske Gorice Development Agency, we want to present the stories of your hometown to the wider public through the prism of market town centers. Well-rounded market centers with architectural landmarks are a good starting point for further learning about an individual place, which is why we have connected with local people who have the knowledge and a knack for presenting their hometown. In this initial and trial phase, we will first work with them to present the market centers of Zgornja Velka, Jurovski Dol, Sveta Ana, and Lenart, and if the response is good, other places as well. A total of 15 continuous slots for guided tours are available, which will be free of charge for visitors, as we cover the costs of the guides/interpreters—you just wait at the agreed-upon time at the agreed-upon location. The tours will last a maximum of 2 hours, depending on the size and requirements of the group.

The goal is to stimulate people’s interest in their hometowns so they can get to know them better, revive forgotten stories, or provide their own interpretations and share their own experiences. Everyone else who would like to fill their free time with interesting information and experiences is, of course, also invited to the tours. If interest is high, we will prepare similar content in the spring and on a broader scale.
