Pumpkin oil

Pumpkin seed oil is a specialty of Slovenske Gorice and Prlekija, but it is also produced in the southern part of Austrian Styria. Compared to olive oil, pumpkin oil is largely ignored in Slovenian cuisine, but it contains many types of vitamins and minerals.

In Slovenske Gorice, pumpkin oil is mainly used as a dressing for different types of salads, and it is a particularly healthy combination together with onions (onions with pumpkin oil), where onions clean the lining of the veins in the body, and pumpkin oil lowers the level of bad cholesterol in the blood. On top of that, undiluted pumpkin oil has a very pleasant and intense taste, which is best tested by tasting it with the help of home-baked bread.
