Slovenskogoriška gibanca

Slovenske Gorice region is also known as the land of ‘pogač’, among which the primacy certainly belongs to the ‘gibanca’. Pogače are a group of simple country dishes made of puff or pulled dough, filled with cottage cheese, local fruit and other local goods, and baked in a baking tray in an oven or brick oven.

The specialty of Slovenskogoriška gibanca is in the method of preparation with layers of pulled dough, which are stretched over the entire surface and are covered with cream in between. The best Slovenskogoriška gibanca is prepared in a brick oven.
