Olje iz bučnih semen je posebnost Slovenskih goric in Prlekije, pridelujejo pa ga tudi v južnem delu Avstrijske Štajerske. Bučno olje je v primerjavi z olivnim oljem v slovenski kulinariki precej prezrto, vsebuje pa veliko vrst vitaminov in mineralov.
V Slovenskih goricah se bučno olje uporablja predvsem kot preliv za različne vrste solat, posebej zdravo kombinacijo pa predstavlja skupaj s čebulo (čebula z bučnim oljem), kjer čebula čisti obloge žil v organizmu, bučno olje pa znižuje raven slabega holesterola v krvi. Povrhu tega pa je nerazredčeno bučno olje zelo prijetnega in intenzivnega okusa, ki ga najbolje preverite z okušanjem s pomočjo doma pečenega kruha.
