Slovenske gorice so poznane tudi kot dežela pogač, med katerimi pa primat zagotovo pripada gibanci. Pogače so skupina preprostih podeželskih jedi iz listnatega ali vlečenega testa, ki se nadevajo s skuto, domačim sadje in drugimi domačimi dobrinami, pečejo pa se v pekaču v pečici ali krušni peči.
Posebnost slovenskogoriške gibanice je v načinu priprave z gibami oz. plastmi vlečenega testa, ki se vlečejo čez celotno površino in so vmes premazane s smetano. Najboljša slovenskogoriška gibanica se pripravi v krušni peči.
